Thursday we made Heart Hand-Print Framed Valentines for our family. I found these great typography picture frames at WalMart for $2.50 a piece! So I grabbed 4, and we made one for the kids' Dad, one for me and Cliff (my love), and one for each set of Grandparents. They loved getting messy with the paint and were so proud of their end product. I got the idea for the handprint hearts from here and here. I guess we did our handprints upside down; but it worked. While I worked on stamping their names, they worked hard on their own free-form valentines by cutting hearts, coloring, gluing on foam shapes, and painting patterned scrapbooking paper. It was a fun and productive day.
Then on Friday, the little ones joined with their cousin, Gracie, at their Mi-Mi's house to make really yummy Chocolate Covered Valentine Rice Krispy Treats. Easy peasy, too! We molded the rice krispy treat mix into a silicone heart shaped muffin tin, popped them out onto a baking sheet and put them in the freezer for a few minutes to harden. Then we dipped them halfway into melted white chocolate and added sprinkles. LOTS of sprinkles! Here (and here) are some how-to's if you need some more help.
And finally, today, VALENTINE's Day, I gave the kiddos each a special Valentine book along with a fun Muffin Tin Lunch. Of course, the chocolate treat was scarfed down first! And I read them their books (over... and over...) while they ate. (And if I can ever figure out Amazon Associate links, I will add those for the books... hmmm...)
I hope you have a Valentine's Day just as full of fun and love as ours!

I would love to have a frame like the one you made it looks great! The tin does too.
ReplyDeleteJDaneil4: Thanks for visiting and for the compliments. I was SO thrilled to find those frames on sale at WalMart!!! I couldn't go wrong. :)
ReplyDeleteFor Amazon Associates, you should have a box on the upper right of your posting box when writing a new post. You search whatever in that box, then highlight the words in your text and click the "link" button for in-text links, or click "link and image" for the box with the item and price and such to appear wherever your cursor last was. You might not have enabled it in your blogger settings yet though (look around in the 'Monetize' tab) [It should be enable "amazon product finder" at the veeeeeery bottom of the AA tab in Monetize.]
ReplyDeleteOh my looks like you had a brilliant and "lovely" time. Love you heart hands. We did some too, but yours turned out sooooo lovely!
