With Earth Day right around the corner (April 22nd), I’ve been trying to teach the kids a little bit about reusing and recycling our trash. Our recycling bin was overflowing with plastic water bottles, soda bottles, and juice containers. And we noticed that they all have unique shapes, ridges, and bottoms. What a perfect (FREE!) tool for making impressions in play dough!
Play Dough Impressions with Plastic Bottles
We found many of the bottles gave us really cool flower like impressions when we pressed the bottom into the play dough.
And even some of the sides made really neat lines and circular impressions. It was really fun to watch Priscilla discover the impressions that each bottle would make.
I liked the flower and star impressions so much that we might try to make them in something more permanent to make ornaments. Maybe salt dough?
Do you ever use plastic bottles in your arts and crafts?
