Well, we couldn’t just get rid of all of those unique recyclable bottles from our play dough impressions activity. And with Earth Day on it’s way, we’re still focusing on using our recycled materials in our art. (Check out more Earth Day ideas here!) So we decided to explore printmaking and paint with our plastic bottles.
Recyclable Plastic Bottle Print Painting
I’ve seen on other blogs (like hands on : as we grow) that printing with the typical water bottle makes fun flower petal shapes. And we had even more fun trying out different sized and shaped bottles, too.
It was fun to overlap our prints and nest them inside one another, too! We stuck with a limited color palette to unify the finished painting.
I think we’re going to use our finished art as gift wrap, but it would look cute trimmed down and mounted as wall art, too.
Have you ever used plastic bottles to create art? What would you do with the finished painting if you were us?

ReplyDeleteI love using various objects to make different types of prints. I also adore the fact that you will be using it for wrapping paper! Fantastic idea!
This is on our to-try list, but haven't gotten to it yet! Looks like your daughter enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to Learning Laboratory at Mama Smiles =)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to make prints for gift wrap! We loved putting paint on the side of a bottle and rolling it. They end up looking like monsters. http://inspirationlaboratories.com/2012/03/painting-monsters-the-end-result-of-process-oriented-art/
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to use recycled bottles. Thanks for sharing this clever and earth-friendly idea at the Kid's Co-op!
ReplyDeleteI saw this idea somewhere else, but I love the idea of using different bottles but sticking with one or two colors. What a neat way to make kid art more pleasing to the adult eye!
ReplyDeleteJust a fun way to explore painting, printing and patterns!
