Mama Knows Best: Tips for Mothers from Mothers [Heather from wordplayhouse]

Mama Knows Best LogoOne thing I’ve learned from the popular From the Mouths of Moms parenting tips series is that every mom, child, and family is different.  And each mom assesses their own unique experiences, values, and circumstances to make the best parenting decisions possible for their own child and family.  Each mother knows best and tries to do her best for her child.

So why not share and learn from one another; moms helping moms.  Every Tuesday, I will spotlight one mama and her “best” tips for mothers on parenting advice, resources, and products.  I’ve already shared my parenting “bests” and those of Rebekah from The Golden Gleam.  This week I’m happy to share one of my favorite mamas, Heather from wordplayhouse.com

Best Pregnancy or Birth Advice
You need less than half as many baby gadgets as you think you do.

Best Parenting Website
Our local online forum for parents. There are no bells and whistles. Just a place for mothers to share, get, and give advice. Because it is local, you meet many of the mothers at children's hikes, activities, and events you learn about through the group. Many areas have these local forums; so, see if there is a local group in your area.

Best Blog for Moms
My own mother's blog, whiteleycreek.com is the best blog for this mother! But, so many others enjoy what she shares too. It keeps me connected to her, to my childhood home, and the simplicity on a homestead—with her chickens, gardens, and vintage aprons hanging on the porch there.

Best Baby Product
Simple, white, long-sleeve onesies

Best Parenting Advice
Patience

Best Parenting Book
I parent by instinct and the support of other mothers who are positive role models.

Best Way to Stay Organized
Be minimalist. Have less stuff to clean up and organize.

Best Way to Keep a Happy Relationship or Marriage
Make it a priority to get enough sleep. Sleep brings sunnier dispositions and patience towards both your spouse and children.

Best Family Outing or Vacation
Camping

Best Kid-Friendly Restaurant
Taking your take-out outside for a picnic.

Best Family Meal or Recipe
Soups. One pot. Easy clean up. Healthy.

Best Behavior Management or Discipline Tip
Showing by example. Exhibit patience, calm, and understanding to model those behaviors to your children. They learn more than how to brush their teeth or tie their shoes from you—They mimic how you navigate life too.

Best Way to Spend a Mommy Moment
Savoring a shower. And, being clean of baby food, and slobber-free, for a few moments afterwards.
